It is possible that other former team members may have newer versions - if this is the case, please contact me and I'll update accordingly. Best HD texture mods for HL1 So I read that this original version of Half Life is still the definitive version for any newcomer to the series since Half life: Source is broken with many bugs/glitches that were left unfixed and Half Life: Black Mesa is incomplete and has some questionable changes. Source is definitely your best bet if you want HL2 lighting but you feel that Black Mesa changes too much of the original game. Actually there is a mod that fixes a lot of Sources bugs. Im sad because we cant use upclaling wads for replacing the original ones in Goldsrc. I dont think gold source (the engine from the game) has dynamic light. The goal of Half-Life 1: MMod is to refine gunplay and combat mechanics, enhance immersion factor by giving Player more options and combat opportunities as well as slightly enhance visuals and appearances of certain things using lore/original design friendly approach. I tested it with Half-life Enricheds wad to not broke the Goldsrc limitations. Optional: If you already played without the hd textures and wanna use your old savegames, copy your old savegames from xash/valve/saves to hlgoldhd. Go to options, Video and tick 'allow materials'. These files are the most recent I have, dating to November 2004 (a few months after my departure - there are some textures in here I hadn't even seen before). Well i made some testing and its look like Goldsrc strengthing the upscaled textures and xash make them to fith perfectly in the place of the originals. Simply called 'halflife hidef,' this mod updates the graphics of the game to give it, as the name suggests, more high-definition textures, with the description page saying that it implements 4K. After editing, copy it back to the xash folder on your Quest. So, for anyone out there who might still be fighting the good fight with old Half-Life 1 content, or for anyone who wants to see what we were working with, please enjoy this: I've been meaning to partner this release with a postmortem of sorts on the mod's successes and failures as well as as thorough a "where are they now?" list I can manage, but even after all this time I have a lot to say and this has been held back long enough. ![]() This was a single player mod I started way back in 2002, a few months before I would strike my largest amateur success with Natural Selection's ns_eclipse. A few weeks back, I received an unexpected e-mail from a fan of an old Half-Life mod by the name of Nightwatch. ![]()
